The 34th annual Kailua-Kona Community Christmas Parade needs more participants for its yearly festive stroll. This year’s parade will start at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec.8, at the Kekuaokalani Gym, progressing along Kuakini Highway to Palani Road, turning onto Alii Drive, making its way through Kailua-Kona Village ending at the Coconut Grove Marketplace.

This year’s parade theme is “A Storybook Christmas.”

SBA disaster assistance available

Low-interest federal disaster loans are available to Hawaii businesses and residents affected by Hurricane Lane, including wildfires and floods, that occurred Aug. 22-29, announced administrator Linda McMahon of the U.S. Small Business Administration. SBA acted under its own authority to declare a disaster following the denial of the state’s appeal for a major disaster declaration for individual assistance.

The disaster declaration makes SBA assistance available in Hawaii and Maui counties.

“SBA is strongly committed to providing Hawaii with the most effective and customer-focused response possible, and we will be there to provide access to federal disaster loans to help finance recovery for businesses and residents affected by the disaster,” said McMahon. “Getting our businesses and communities up and running after a disaster is our highest priority at SBA.”
